The Rehab Aide functions under the direction of a therapist or therapy assistant serving in a direct patient care role at the direction of a licensed therapist. Primary role includes direct care support for activities such as bed mobilization, transferring, lifting, line management, transport and the completion of prescribed exercises. Also, responsible for the delivery and set-up of bedside trapeze systems at patient bedside. Additional primary roles for a Rehab Aide working in the speech pathology department include set-up/clean-up for FEES and MBS assessments, feeding during FEES assessments, reprocessing endoscopes, and patient transport. Secondary role includes tasks such as supply and inventory management, maintenance and cleaning of equipment/treatment areas, accreditation preparedness and other assignments as assigned.
