About The Position

This position is responsible for receiving and evaluating complex applications for licensure and insurance forms to determine eligibility for registration, certification, or licensure. The role involves independently evaluating qualifications and licensure criteria in accordance with Florida Statutes, laws, and rules for five regulated industries. It also includes performing professional regulation activities such as complaint analysis, investigation services, examination services, board office services, and other regulatory services related to statutory requirements. The position also handles scheduling, grading, and reviewing examination challenges, preparing board meeting materials, responding to public inquiries, reviewing educational materials from out-of-state applicants, monitoring continuing education providers, reviewing background information for licensure, tracking licensees under disciplinary action, recommending procedural improvements, providing direction to staff on complaints, offering guidance to applicants, performing purchasing and travel duties, monitoring statistical data, coordinating training, acting as a liaison between departments, processing refunds, and performing other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least five (5) years of secretarial or clerical work experience.
  • At least three (3) years of experience working with computer software programs in a Windows operating environment.
  • Knowledge of administrative principles and practices
  • Knowledge of office procedures and practices relating to administrative functions.
  • Knowledge of educational programs
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, statutes, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Ability to compile, organize and analyze data relating to administrative functions

Responsibilities

  • Receives the more complex applications for licensure/Insurance forms to determine eligibility for registration, certification, or licensure.
  • Independently evaluates qualifications and licensure criteria in accordance with Florida Statutes, laws and rules regarding the five regulated industries.
  • Performs professional regulation activities which include the more complex complaint analysis, investigation services, examination services, board office services, and other regulatory related services concerning statutory requirements.
  • Provide examination services in the regulation process which includes scheduling, grading, and examination review challenges within the five regulated industries.
  • Prepare agenda and materials for board meetings and committee meetings.
  • Responds to complaints and inquiries to the public, potential licensees, and provides information.
  • Reviews curriculum, transcripts, degrees and other educational materials of applicants having received education and training out of state in order to determine applicant eligibility for certification and licensure, and the continuation of practice in the respective profession.
  • Reviews status of approved continuing education providers and provider courses or programs, as well as assists in the maintenance of training records related to the continued qualifications of individuals licensed in the fire equipment and fire protection industries.
  • Determines if an applicant completed an approved Continuing Education program in the appropriate area of certification.
  • Reviews complex background information to determine eligibility for licensure.
  • Monitors and tracks licensees under disciplinary action, prepares reports on status and communicates verbally and in within with respective parties involved regarding disciplinary status.
  • Recommends and reviews improvements in procedures.
  • Provides direction to staff in receipt of complaints filed against licensed professional and facilities.
  • Provides applicants personal guidance regarding certification and licensure, discipline and other regulatory functions.
  • Performs purchasing and travel on behalf of the section.
  • Monitors and prepares reports of monthly statistical data related to licensing, maintaining statistical records of individual and office production.
  • Coordinates the training of personnel involved in the licensing and administrative functions of the Bureau.
  • Acts as liaison between the Bureau and various interdepartmental entities such as accounting, data processing, management systems, and others.
  • Process refunds for the Bureau of Fire Prevention.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
