About The Position

This is a professional position within the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Division of Certified Public Accounting (the division). The division oversees the licensing and regulation of Florida licensed Certified Public Accountants and licensed Certified Public Accounting Firms in the State of Florida.

Requirements

• Knowledge of and ability to appropriately apply Chapter 455 and Chapter 473, Florida Statutes and rules of the Board.
• Knowledge of licensing systems.
• Knowledge of document management systems.
• Possess analytical skills necessary to identify violations of statutes and rules, and identify elements of the alleged violations.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to conduct a thorough investigation.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to prioritize work to meet division deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Five (5) years of professional work experience in an organization performing regulatory investigations, accounting, financial, legal or criminal justice work.
• Five (5) years analyzing and assigning complaints.
• Investigative experience.
• Experience formatting, editing, and creating comprehensive investigative reports using Microsoft Word.
• A valid driver’s license is required.

• Experience working with the enforcement team of a regulatory agency.
• Knowledge of the public accounting industry.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and assign incoming complaints to investigation specialists.
• Investigate licensed and unlicensed activity complaints of alleged violations of Florida Statutes and rules of the Florida Board of Accountancy (the Board).
• Prepares comprehensive, organized, chronological reports of final and supplemental investigations.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate discipline tracking records.
• Train new and current investigation specialists as needed.
• Serve as the division’s backup human resources liaison.
• Serve as the division’s peer review committee liaison.
• Perform other work-related duties as required.
