About The Position

Wise is seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Product Regulatory Compliance Lead to support a rapidly expanding product in North America. This is a senior role within our first line of defense, responsible for ensuring Wise's US and Canada Regulatory Compliance program is best-in-class, meeting all regulatory obligations, effectively managing regulatory compliance risk, and scaling to enable continued growth. The ideal candidate will be an expert in payment/and or cross border payments and possess proven experience in evaluating and implementing applicable controls. Requirements

  • A minimum 7-10 years of experience in regulatory compliance, with a particular focus on implementing and enhancing controls.
  • Significant experience collaborating with product and engineering teams to develop regulatory compliance controls that consider the customer’s journey.
  • A strong ability to analyze and interpret complex regulatory frameworks and explain them clearly to stakeholders.
  • A problem-solver who uses regulations and data to drive business decisions.
  • Proven experience leading and scaling teams, with expertise in growing both team size and impact.
  • Experience working across cross border payments, with specific experience in the US and Canadian markets.
  • Strong data analytics skills and have used them to develop/inform Key Risk Indicators to articulate the health of the consumer compliance program.
  • Willing to travel to Wise offices located across different countries.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team to collaborate with product managers and engineers to develop new products and features for North America, and ensure an effective risk assessment considering all regulatory compliance risks are adequately reviewed and assessed prior to launch
  • Expertise/strong working knowledge with either state money transmission licensing requirements related to Permissible Investments, Regulatory Reporting; Or Consumer Compliance Regulations (e.g. Regulation E, UDAAP, California Consumer Protection Act), Privacy (GLBA), and applicable state privacy and consumer protection regulations.
  • Support the closure of regulatory compliance issues by building new controls or enhancing existing ones.
  • Proactively identify ways to improve controls, reduce unnecessary customer friction, and enable continued growth.
  • Execute Quarterly regulatory compliance risk assessment, and present the results of such assessments to relevant regional and global Risk Committee.
  • Develop and enhance Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to provide senior management with a snapshot of the health of the Regulatory Compliance Program.
  • Ensure the North American team has a full understanding of our regional control framework, local risks, and product compliance processes.
  • Provide confidence to bank partners, auditors, and regulators regarding our product offerings and associated regulatory compliance program.
