About The Position

This is a 6-week temporary assignment for a Regulatory Compliance Coordinator. The purpose of this role is to understand regulatory requirements under U.S. Customs Protection – Title 19 CFR Chapter 1; Foreign Trade Regulations – Title 15 CFR Part 30; and the Puerto Rico State Tax Office. The individual will be responsible for complying with these regulatory requirements and ensuring business partners are knowledgeable of any revisions or updates to the regulations to minimize risk.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a transportation-related business required.
  • Commitment to exceed customer expectations.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet skills required.
  • Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Associates Degree or above in a related field or related equivalent experience and/or combination of experience and education required.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body (Sedentary Work).
  • Visual requirement equal to that for clerical administrative whose work deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminal, extensive reading, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Regulatory agencies preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Proficiency in typing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile all vessels manifests with the Vessel Management report to ensure data integrity before sending manifests to Government Entities.
  • Provide Cargo manifests to all respective Regulatory Agencies as required by U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP).
  • Resolve manifest discrepancies with business partners to minimize discrepancies and reduce the risk of fines/penalties.
  • Create foreign cargo manifests and submit them to CBP.
  • Educate and guide appropriate Departments on all regulatory requirements to ensure understanding of the regulations.
  • Communicate with governmental agencies for authorization of delivery, inspections, and hold/releases.
  • Communicate frequently with all port locations on cargo hold/releases to ensure cargo is dispatched after all regulatory requirements are met.
  • Ensure all shipments are properly documented for transmission to regulatory agencies (e.g., Arbitrios and CBP).
  • Transmit all documented shipments destined to San Juan, PR to Arbitrios and monitor results. Submit corrections to Hacienda when necessary.
  • Monitor daily foreign cargo entries to inform port locations of releases and validation of entries.
  • Prepare electronic In-Bond documents for foreign cargo (USVI) and ensure clearance of In-Bond before cargo release.
  • File the Electronic Export Information (EEI) in the ACE Secure Data Portal once all required data elements are received from the customer.
  • Review Census Bureau transmission and make amendments as necessary to comply with regulations.
  • Provide a copy of AES/EEI filing for customers upon request.
  • Audit In-Bond entries for all port locations to ensure documents are validated prior to release.
  • Send Arrival Notifications to customers.
  • Interface with internal and external customers as needed to obtain missing information.
  • Meet all department requirements to maintain departmental KPI’s within the targeted goal.
  • Assist the Company in any necessary duties to achieve Company goals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to the Integrated Management System that covers Quality, Environmental, and Safety ISO certifications.
