About The Position

Cenovus is seeking a Regulatory Compliance Advisor/Technologist to join their Calgary-based Regulatory Compliance team. This group plays an essential role in supporting compliance activities that enable responsible operations across their Western Canadian asset base. In this role, the individual will support operational and corporate compliance activities across sites in Western Canada. They must be able to build effective working relationships within the compliance team, across Cenovus groups involved in compliance activities, and with regulators in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. The role requires strong organizational skills to prioritize concurrent deadlines, manage work of varying complexity, and support timely, well-documented regulatory submissions.

Requirements

  • Legal authority to work in Canada
  • Post-secondary degree or technologist diploma in engineering, environmental sciences or a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a regulatory role, with strong knowledge of oil and gas industry regulations across Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan.
  • Proven experience in data analysis, trend identification, and dashboard development, including Power BI.
  • Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and technical writing skills, particularly in preparing regulatory correspondence.

Responsibilities

  • Track, enter and maintain incoming inspection, investigation, audit and non-compliance events in the tracking system.
  • Work with internal teams to coordinate response submissions to regulators.
  • Liaise with regulators as required.
  • Provide support for CER inspections and audits.
  • Track and coordinate annual CER compliance submissions.
  • With support, lead the execution of the CER triennial audit program.
  • Create and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for compliance and waste tracking data.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc compliance statistics reports and summarize trends for senior leaders and executives.
  • Manage shared mailboxes, regulatory correspondence filing, and user access for compliance systems.
  • Author and update work instructions, processes and procedures in support of regulatory compliance.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with colleagues to enable collaboration on shared responsibilities and for adequate vacation coverage.
  • Build and maintain productive, solution-oriented relationships and represent Cenovus in meetings with key regulators.
