About The Position

To support NextEra Energy's Regulatory Risk and Strategy Office (“RRS”) through the implementation of regulatory compliance training, communications, and governance strategy. This role ensures training related to regulatory obligations (e.g., ISO/RTO market rules, state Public Utility Commissions, NERC, FERC) is effectively implemented across Business Units, facilitates enterprise communications related to regulatory obligations and training expectations, and provides guidance to Business Units on training needs, expectations and effective approaches to promote a sustainable culture of regulatory compliance. This position is responsible for assisting in the management and coordination of compliance and training programs within a business unit (BU). Personnel in this role perform diversified and confidential duties requiring basic experience, skills and knowledge of regulations, organizational policies and operational processes. Employees provide interpretive guidance and training and assist in development of policies, procedures, and business unit controls designed to monitor, identify and mitigate non-conformances, in order to maintain a culture of compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, organizational development, human resources, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in change management, compliance program implementation, regulatory operations, or workforce enablement within a highly regulated environment (e.g., energy, utilities, financial services, healthcare, or similar)
  • Proven track record of leading internal change initiatives and driving stakeholder alignment across matrixed organizations
  • Experience designing and delivering training and capability-building programs for compliance or regulatory teams
  • Strong understanding of compliance governance, risk ownership, monitoring, and regulatory change management processes
  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 6+ years

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in related field of study or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of energy markets, transmission, grid regulation, and/or state-specific utility regulatory frameworks
  • Working knowledge of governance, risk, and compliance (“GRC”) applications

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain enterprise standards for training related to regulatory obligations (e.g., ISO/RTO, state Public Utility Commissions, NERC, FERC).
  • Facilitate enterprise communications related to regulatory obligations, training expectations, and program updates to promote awareness across NextEra.
  • Coordinate enterprise-level training addressing foundational regulatory risk topics and support consistent understanding of regulatory requirements across the organization.
  • Monitor and track completion of required regulatory training across Business Units and maintain related training records.
  • Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of Business Unit training programs and provide recommendations to improve alignment with enterprise regulatory risk objectives.
  • Provide guidance to Business Units on role-based training needs analyses and approaches for measuring training effectiveness.
  • Support regulatory change management by coordinating communications and facilitating awareness among impacted stakeholders.
  • Support program governance activities, including maintaining escalation protocols and elevating potential resource or capability gaps within regulatory areas.
  • Develops and delivers compliance and operational training and administers the Learning Management System (LMS) for business unit (BU) assignments and tracking of required training
  • Performs operational and training audits and assessments, including analysis, management reporting and development of mitigation and remediation activities and related communications
  • Develops, maintains and oversees Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls, policies, procedures, and forms
  • Coordinates and retains compliance plan documents based on knowledge of regulatory rules and requirements, NextEra policies, and BU compliance activities
  • Performs system reporting and manages segregation of duties and system access control approvals for BU job roles
  • Investigates and reports compliance matters to management, analyzes issues, identifies opportunities, and oversees timely resolution and mitigation control
  • Oversees records retention compliance, including the management of secure file rooms, electronic files, compliance and training documentation, as well as oversight of annual archive purge requirements
  • Develops communications related to compliance training and operational processes
  • Supports inquiries including audits, legal and regulatory proceedings, government reporting and certification processes, third-party requests and industry benchmarking
  • Oversees and coordinates of Nuclear Corrective Action Program, where applicable
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
