About The Position

This is a 12-week program where interns will apply the knowledge and skills they've gained in the classroom by working alongside professionals at SunOpta. This internship offers hands-on exposure to food labeling regulations, claims review, and compliance processes. The intern will contribute to projects that enhance departmental efficiency and accuracy, while developing foundational regulatory knowledge and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be working towards a bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Regulatory Affairs, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Candidates must be at least a junior in college and actively pursuing a degree.
  • Graduate students will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship experience.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Complete key projects assessing the regulatory framework of pending legislation and impacts to products manufactured by SunOpta.
  • Assist with daily regulatory operations, including claims review, label checks, and document drafting.
  • Research regulatory trends and requirements for new claims.
  • Support R&D and cross-functional partners by providing regulatory insights into formulation, claims substantiation, and labeling.
