About The Position

This position assists Regulator Technician A with the records of maintenance and documentation for district regulators, service regulators, gate stations, electronic charts, vaulted services, emergency valves, and filters, including all associated equipment, apparatus, and structures. The role responds to operational abnormalities during scheduled and unscheduled hours. The Regulator Tech B maintains distribution pressure gauges and transmitting equipment, drives a crew truck as required, and maintains and organizes its equipment in a clean, operational, and stocked manner. The position also performs other related work in connection with the construction, operation, and maintenance of the distribution system, as required, in accordance with safety and operational procedures and policies. Additionally, the role performs Distribution or Fitting Division work unrelated to regulators, consistent with base skills, to meet workload requirements or operational contingencies. Once qualified, this position requires on-call assignment for regulator work on a rotational basis. This position is a DOT Safety Sensitive Position and requires compliance with all drug and alcohol regulations.

Requirements

  • Must pass an entry mechanical aptitude test.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively.
  • Have CT motor vehicle driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Must possess a strong mechanical aptitude and be able to interpret distribution system prints and miscellaneous drawings.
  • Must be physically able to perform required duties of the classification, in outside weather conditions.
  • Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be familiar with set-up and use of CNG equipment, such as confined space equipment, CGI’s, etc.
  • Must be qualified to work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Must have base skills and experience in either Distribution or Fitting Division work or practice.
  • Mandatory progression to the bottom of Regulator Technician A classification must be achieved within 18 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of high school, trade school, and experience in the natural gas industry, technical college or military technical training preferred.
  • CDL preferred.
