About The Position

This is a regular student labor position in which the selected candidate will assist the Certified Athletic Trainers with the coordination of the Sports Medicine program. This position requires heavy, physical and/or manual labor. Hours per Week 5-25 hours per week. Working nights, weekends, and holidays is a possible function of this position.

Requirements

  • All student employees must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half-time enrollment for fall/spring semesters is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates.
  • F1/J1 Visa students must be enrolled full-time to be eligible to work as a student employee. Full-time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.
  • To work in a regular student position during the summer semester, students must be enrolled in at least 3 summer credit hours or be enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in the minimum credit hours required for their classification and employment type.
  • For Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) positions, students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours (undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (graduate).
  • New incoming students are not eligible for student employment until the semester in which they begin classes.
  • Interest in the medical field.
  • CPR/First certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hiring.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suit of programs.
  • General knowledge of NCAA Division II rules & regulations.
  • Must be able to perform all tasks appointed by the certified athletic trainers.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Understanding of HIPAA and FERPA guidelines.
  • Must have a strong desire to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Setup sports medicine needs before practices and competitions.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of sports medicine equipment, supplies, and modalities after practice and competitions.
  • Attend athletic practices and competitions as assigned.
  • Application of basic first aid and CPR training.
  • Application of preventive and protective taping/wrapping procedures within limitations of knowledge and training.
  • Application of cryotherapy and modalities within the limitations of knowledge and training.
  • Other duties as directed and supervised by OCU Athletic Training staff.
