About The Position
The Faculty of Social Sciences, School of Political Studies is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach POL3502 - Pensée politique moderne II (Modern Political Thought II) during the Fall 2026 semester. This course explores the origins and development of advanced modern political thought from the 19th century to the present, covering themes such as socialism, liberalism, Marxism, decolonialism, feminism, postmodernism, and Indigenous perspectives. It is strongly recommended that students have completed POL 2507 and POL 2508 prior to this course. The course will be offered online in a synchronous, scheduled format with live instruction. The University provides training for online course delivery. The teaching mode may change due to health or other reasons. The academic year runs from September 1 to August 31.
Requirements
- Doctorate or doctoral coursework in the subject area of the announced course
- Teaching experience in the subject area
- Active competence in a second language (implied English given the context of the university)
- Successfully complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law

- Completed POL 2507 and POL 2508 courses prior to teaching this course
- Familiarity with online course delivery (training is provided)

Benefits
- Hourly rate for teaching: $239.47 (2024-2025 rates, subject to collective agreement ratification and retroactivity)
