About The Position

This is an introductory course designed for students new to English programs, focusing on contemporary literatures, including popular 21st-century forms and genres such as genre fiction, digital poetry, memoir, and graphic literature. Texts will be studied in relation to new creative ideas influencing writing this century and their associated social and cultural contexts.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in English.
  • Acceptable level of education and/or experience equivalent to the educational requirement and/or demonstrated experience.
  • Competence in English (language of instruction).
  • Successful completion of all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
  • Ability to apply for positions through the appropriate worker profile if currently an employee of the University of Ottawa.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Reading the Contemporary World (ENG1141 B00) during the 2027 Winter Semester.
  • Develop and deliver course content based on contemporary literatures and their social and cultural contexts.
  • Engage students in the study of various literary forms and genres popular in the twenty-first century.
  • Potentially supervise students and contribute to the academic unit's activities as per collective agreements.
