About The Position

The Regrind Specialist will lead by example, supporting company values and ABS principles with a high level of safety standards for themselves and others. This role is responsible for maintaining and driving good housekeeping and 5S practices, possessing deep knowledge of product profiles, including different types of plastic and colors for compatibility to meet approved quality standards. The specialist will maintain Regrind product and flake inventory levels, help lead and drive scrap segregation, and reduce waste by ensuring product is saved for Regrind. They will consult the Help Chain with quality issues, lead, run, and post daily metrics for regrind utilization, and own a complex regrind process for maximum utilization of product. Communication of issues through the help chain is crucial to drive process compliance. The role requires the ability to set up, start up, run, adjust, clean out, perform preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot regrind machinery. Collaboration with Rapid Problem Solvers on shift to drive consumption is expected. The specialist must be able to perform all other tasks assigned by their supervisor, communicate clearly in English both verbally and written, wear appropriate safety gear, attend work regularly and reliably, and work flexible shifts and overtime as scheduled or directed. Conformance to company performance rules, behavioral rules, expectations, and policies is mandatory. The role involves responding to process breakdowns, quality problems, and logistic problems, following the help chain when unable to resolve problems within a predetermined timeframe, and identifying and recording problems on problem-solving boards. Necessary adjustments and minor repairs to manufacturing and auxiliary equipment, including a high understanding of material blenders and all regrinders, must be made. Accurate record-keeping, such as scrap/hold labels, shift production summaries, Gaylord labels, and Regrind closure and flake inventory, is required. Providing appropriate communications and feedback to other RPS, support personnel, maintenance, process specialists, and supervisors is essential. Creating, maintaining, and improving standardized work practices, supporting productivity improvements by team members, and assisting in mistake-proofing and innovation are key functions. Identifying improvements to eliminate waste and support daily, weekly, and monthly regrind cost savings objectives is expected. Maintaining and suggesting improvements to housekeeping and 5S systems, and training other Regrind team members and RPS’s on the job are also part of the responsibilities. Demonstrating awareness of and compliance with all pertinent safety policies and procedures, maintaining a professional, clean, and organized work environment, and participating in work-related training programs are required.

Requirements

  • Have a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Mechanical skills at a level that enables the person in this role to operate the technical processes of the Closure Production Department and its related machinery, including the material blending process, as well as to perform troubleshooting and problem solving for changing over the molding process.
  • Be self-motivated with high energy level.
  • Lead by example in all areas: procedures, policies, motivation, and attitude in our ever-changing environment.
  • Understand the cost saving initiative and must be able to truly own and manage Regrind process, without constant direction.
  • Ability to operate an electric walkie and pallet lifter/stacker.
  • Be aware of and address issues regarding safety and housekeeping.
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to walk a significant amount to cover all Regrind areas. This includes being on your feet throughout the entire production shift.
  • Receive passing status on all pre-employment testing.
