About The Position

Develops, implements, tests, calibrates, and programs mathematic models in specialized information systems applications. Analyzes data and builds models to set real property tax rolls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Science, or other closely related field, plus four (4) years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Must obtain an Appraiser license from the State of Utah Division of Real Estate and possess a Residential Appraiser designation with the Utah State Tax Commission within three (3) years of hire.
  • A valid Driver’s License accepted by the State of Utah is required at the time of hire.
  • A valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Utah must be obtained within six (6) months of hire to operate a County vehicle.
  • The successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, calibrates, and deploys advanced statistical valuation models within specialized systems applications to ensure the accurate and equitable valuation of all real property types.
  • Maintains documentation and validates models to ensure statistical accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Utilizes advanced statistical and appraisal methodologies to develop predictive mass appraisal models.
  • Analyzes the results of model programming and modifies programs to optimize performance and meet goals and objectives.
  • Prepares or assists in preparing technical documentation and statistical reports detailing model performance, methodologies, and valuation outcomes.
  • Partners with leadership to identify key data requirements, ensuring datasets are optimized for statistical analysis.
  • Performs data cleaning, auditing, and validation to ensure accuracy and reliability for all valuation outputs.
  • Presents information on models, trains end-users, and assists with project planning.
