The Registry Pharmacist (PRN) at Advocate Health Lutheran General Hospital is responsible for overseeing pharmaceutical care. This includes retrieving and evaluating biomedical literature, designing medication therapy regimens, and providing patient education on medication therapy, adverse effects, compliance, and administration. The role involves designing, recommending, monitoring, and evaluating patient-specific pharmacotherapeutic regimens, implementing recommendations, and documenting them appropriately. The pharmacist will review and interpret medication orders, participate in medical emergencies, and actively support medication safety and quality improvement activities. They will also perform quality assurance, collaborate with the healthcare team on formulary adherence and medication-use processes, and assist in acquiring non-formulary medications. Practice must comply with organizational policies, procedures, and local, state, and federal regulations. The pharmacist will prepare, dispense, and oversee the proper storage and handling of medications. Additionally, the role includes serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents, mentoring, orienting, training, and assisting with performance evaluations of pharmacy teammates, residents, and students. They will direct and check the accuracy of pharmacy support team members' work to ensure safe and efficient workflows and regulatory compliance. The position requires demonstrating knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, including understanding growth and development across the lifespan and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
