About The Position

Assist with office-based procedures following aseptic technique, hand off instruments, assist with obtaining, labeling, and sending specimens, perform low and high-level disinfection procedures, perform POC testing, and enter orders into the computer. Room patients and set up exam/procedure rooms. Responsible for performing routine and more complex medical assistant clinical duties including taking vital signs, administering a limited number of medications per Emory Clinic approved policy, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms in an outpatient care setting. Assists physicians and APP's with patients, equipment preparation, aseptic technique, and surgical procedures in the exam/procedure room. Prepares the exam/procedure room by assembling routine supplies, materials, instruments, and equipment; obtains special supplies indicated by the physician. Accountable for the care and handling of instruments and equipment. Assists in the preparation, transportation, and positioning of patients for the procedure and provides for the physical comfort, safety, and privacy of the patient during the procedure. Observes patient for possible symptoms which may indicate a change in condition and reports to the appropriate member of the medical team for immediate action. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the principles of sterile technique and infection control; practices appropriate procedures to maintain a sterile environment. Chaperone and assist for every patient intimate examination. Performs accurate POC testing.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • Successful completion of orientation and competency validation for independently preparing for and assisting with all Department specific procedures and POC testing
