This position assists the Registered Nurse (RN) with the daily care of patients on the 3CE Medical-Surgical Telemetry-Ventilation Unit. Responsibilities include patient bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, ambulation, and therapeutic positioning. The role involves measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, and daily weights, as well as accurately documenting in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The Registry Nurse Assistant performs purposeful rounding, collects specimens, and performs point-of-care testing. They also assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring patient call lights are within reach and answered promptly. Additional duties include completing errands, maintaining stock for the nursing area, cleaning equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties that require lifting and pushing/pulling. The role also involves tasks related to nutritional needs and maintaining skin integrity, including the use of TED hose and sequential compression devices. Depending on unit requirements and under RN direction, tasks may include removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans. The position requires adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles.
