The specialist also provides patients with information regarding insurance, billing, and hospital procedures, and may handle managed care responsibilities like pre-certification and authorizations. Additionally, the role includes preparing and obtaining signatures for consent forms, collecting payments, preparing patient armbands, balancing daily receipts, following up on accounts, performing medical necessity checks, and scheduling/rescheduling patients.
