About The Position

Acts as the first point of contact to all customers. Organizes and facilitates clerical administrative duties of the department. Performs a variety of cross-functional clerical and patient support duties including telephone, registration, scheduling, and data entry as they relate to the department. Responsible for patient chart maintenance and communication with physicians' offices as needed and requested. Duties may vary depending on departmental needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card - State (or application within seven working days for Pediatric Behavioral Health Sites ONLY)

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year in a healthcare-related field and knowledge of medical terminology, or experience in scheduling and/or registration in a healthcare setting.
  • 2 years in healthcare-related experience, including scheduling and registration experience, or Patient Access, Outpatient Medical Imaging, Medical scheduling or closely related experience.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) - Certificate

Responsibilities

  • Contacts, greets, and communicates with customers.
  • Answers telephone calls and responds to voice mail messages, directing information to the appropriate individual.
  • Orients patients to the department with directions and instructions.
  • Performs imaging support duties such as receiving and transferring calls, generating reports, retrieving images from PACS, assisting in maintaining patient workflow, maintaining records, and ensuring dissemination of files.
  • Prepares patients for their exams and transports them when necessary.
  • Assists Supervisor, Radiologist, and/or Technologists within the scope of the position.
  • Performs a variety of scheduling duties for procedures, including initial and follow-up appointments.
  • Tracks no-shows, documents in the appropriate system, and communicates with physicians if applicable.
  • Provides schedules in a directed format to staff as needed.
  • Performs a variety of registration duties, including providing initial registration information, creating/choosing electronic records, gathering signatures, and coordinating medical authorization/referral and financial responsibility.
  • Completes daily data entry and scanning of patient registration information.
  • Obtains authorization from insurance companies as applicable.
  • Collects co-pays and payments required for procedures.
  • Completes and submits daily deposits and/or billing as applicable.
  • Completes patient chart process in accordance with HIPAA and maintains with appropriate information.
  • Communicates with applicable insurance carriers and hospital billing for authorization updates.
  • Ensures appropriate chart information is forwarded to medical records as applicable.
  • Views email daily and provides supervisor with appropriate information and memorandums.
  • Maintains inventory of office supplies/forms and places orders as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
