Requirements
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Registered Veterinary Technician in the applicable provincial regulatory body
- Graduate of an accredited Veterinary Technician/Technology program
- Strong technical skills including anesthesia monitoring, laboratory procedures, and radiography
- Excellent patient care and animal handling skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support clients and collaborate with team members
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and high standards of care
- Compassionate, reliable, and committed to delivering exceptional patient and client care
Nice To Haves
- Experience in surgery, anesthesia monitoring, and dental procedures considered an asset
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian
- Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during surgical and dental procedures
- Collect and prepare laboratory samples (blood, urine, fecal) and perform diagnostic testing as required
- Take and process diagnostic radiographs and assist with imaging procedures
- Provide nursing care for hospitalized patients, including monitoring recovery and patient comfort
- Educate clients on treatment plans, medications, preventative care, and post-procedure instruction
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in the hospital management system
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites
- Ensure equipment and instruments are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained
- Collaborate with veterinarians and hospital team members to support efficient workflow and high-quality patient care
- Provide mentorship or guidance to veterinary assistants and students
