Requirements

  • Current state credential (CVT/LVT/RVT) in the state of employment.
  • Strong anesthesia, surgical, laboratory, and nursing skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds independently (more with assistance).
  • Commitment to OSHA safety standards and proper PPE use.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Working knowledge or willingness to learn EzyVet PiMS software, Vetcove Home Delivery, PetDesk, and Idexx bench top machines.
  • Proficiency in calculating accurate medication dosage calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians in medical and surgical procedures.
  • Obtain patient histories, record vital signs, and provide client education.
  • Prepare and monitor patients for anesthesia and surgery.
  • Collect and process laboratory samples; perform in-house diagnostics.
  • Take and maintain radiographs using proper safety protocols.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, anesthesia, and treatments as directed.
  • Provide safe animal handling (using Fear-Free and Low Stress Handling techniques) and compassionate patient care.
  • Maintain clean, organized exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment.
  • Communicate clearly with doctors and team members regarding patient care plans and client concerns.
  • Mentor and work cohesively with veterinary assistants, helping teach skills, guide workflows, and foster a supportive learning environment.
  • Multi-task, stay adaptable, and help wherever needed to keep the hospital running smoothly.
