About The Position

Animal Medical Center San Rafael is looking to hire a Registered Veterinary Technician to join their team. The ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves pets and being part of a fun, supportive team. They will have experience with rooming patients, drawing blood, placing IV catheters, radiology, assisting in surgeries, and proper animal handling & restraint, and being a positive, inclusive and motivating team member. New RVT Graduates are encouraged to apply. The practice aims to provide owners with sound, honest choices for their pets and to provide patients with excellent and compassionate medical care. They strive to give customers the best personalized service possible and to create a friendly, professional work environment for their staff. The practice is a 2-doctor established practice and a high-performing team of registered veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants and client service team members. They are looking to add an adaptable, efficient RVT to their team.

Requirements

1+ years clinical experience as a Veterinary Technician
Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of California, license must be active and in good standing. Or be eligible to transfer or become licensed in California within 3 months of hire.
Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
Passion for working with animals and their owners
Experience with proper animal handling and restraint
Understand the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
Adaptable to working well with current doctors and team members

Nice To Haves

Ability to perform dental extractions as allowed by licensure preferred

Responsibilities

Rooming patients
Drawing blood
Placing IV catheters
Radiology
Assisting in surgeries
Proper animal handling & restraint
Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories
Perform basic exam procedures
Skilled in venipuncture and Intravenous (IV) catheter placement (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
Able to perform digital radiology (X-ray) including positioning
Perform complete dental procedures, including digital x-rays, scaling, polishing, charting
Comfortable with general anesthesia and surgical assisting (induction, intubation, monitoring, aseptic technique)
Laboratory skills including microscope (ear and fecal cytology); IDEXX in-house laboratory
Excellent client communication/education
