About The Position

Village Veterinary Hospital is a long-standing mixed animal hospital with deep ties to the community, located in Bosque Farms, New Mexico. With a deeply loyal clientele, this hospital is always busy and utilizes all associates to the highest level of their skills. Our clinic treats small animals (60%), large animals (40%), as well as emergencies. We offer full-service veterinary medical treatment, ranging from preventive medicine, dental cleanings, in-house laboratory, pharmacy, digital x-rays, digital ultrasound, house calls, and emergency surgical care.

Requirements

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in New Mexico, or eligible to transfer/acquire state license within 3 months of hire.
3 + years of veterinary clinical experience, as a veterinary technician or assistant.
Knowledge of industry tools and equipment.
Experience with proper animal handling and restraint for a variety of species.
Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare.
Understands the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred but not required.
Passion for working with large and small animals, and their owners.

Responsibilities

Perform nursing care in a hospital or ranch setting.
Handle and restrain a variety of species.
Perform dental procedures including scaling, polishing, extractions, and suturing.
Perform IV catheter placement and urinary catheter placement.
Apply casts, bandages, and splints.
Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical procedures, including intubation, monitoring, and pre-operative and post-operative care.
Set up and interpret cytology samples.
Perform diagnostic procedures including digital radiology, dental radiology, and ultrasound-guided cystocentesis.
All other duties of a Registered Veterinary Technician as allowable by law.
