About The Position

Eastown Animal Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, is a small animal general practice that has proudly cared for pets and their families for more than 80 years. We serve clients throughout Des Moines, Pleasant Hill, Runnells, Altoona, and the surrounding communities, building lasting relationships through exceptional veterinary medicine and compassionate service. We’re looking for a full-time Registered Veterinary Technician to join our dedicated team. Requirements

  • Current Registered Veterinary Technician credential or eligibility for credentialing as required in Iowa
  • Strong veterinary nursing and animal-handling skills

Responsibilities

  • Support veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to patients
  • Assist with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
  • Perform technical nursing duties appropriate to your training and credentials
  • Safely handle and restrain patients while prioritizing comfort and well-being
  • Collect and prepare diagnostic samples for laboratory testing
  • Administer medications and treatments under veterinarian direction
  • Assist with surgical preparation, anesthesia, patient monitoring, and recovery
  • Support dental procedures and preventive-care services
  • Educate clients about treatments, medications, preventive care, and at-home instructions
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient medical records
  • Communicate effectively with veterinarians and fellow team members
  • Help maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked treatment areas
