About The Position
Central Island Veterinary Emergency Hospital, located on beautiful Vancouver Island, British Columbia, is seeking a dedicated Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join their Emergency team at their 24/7 veterinary hospital. The hospital currently operates on a modified 4-day work week with a goal to return to 24/7 functionality. This role offers a condensed work schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week, with flexibility in scheduling. The position is ideal for an RVT who enjoys emergency medicine or is curious about it, values teamwork, and seeks a workplace that supports learning, mentorship, and professional development. While emergency experience is an asset, it is not required as training and ongoing support are provided.
Requirements
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in good standing with the BCVTA
- Strong technical and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

- Emergency experience
- Familiar with Cornerstone Whiteboard
Responsibilities
- Triage and monitoring of emergency and critical patients
- Anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
- IV catheter placement, blood collection, and in-house laboratory testing
- Assisting with emergency diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures
- Accurate and timely medical record keeping
- Compassionate and professional client communication
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe emergency department
