Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
About The Position
PEI Veterinary Walk-In & Urgent Care, part of the Galaxy Vets family, is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) for an urgent care environment. This is not a traditional technician role; RVTs are considered clinical leaders and medical decision-support partners to the DVM, driving patient care standards. The position offers autonomy, ownership, and the opportunity to contribute to building a sustainable veterinary business. Each shift, the RVT is a key clinical pillar, leading anesthesia and patient monitoring, performing venipuncture and IV catheter placement, initiating and managing fluid therapy, executing radiology, monitoring hospitalized patients, educating clients, supporting surgical flow, and helping refine clinical processes. RVTs are empowered to practice to the full extent of their training and registration.
Requirements
- Registered Veterinary Technician (in good standing)
- Minimum 1–2 years of direct patient care experience preferred
- Strong anesthesia, catheter placement, and diagnostic support skills
- Confidence in urgent or high-pressure situations
- Excellent client communication
- A teammate who takes initiative and thinks critically
- Evening/weekend/holiday availability required (we believe in fair rotation)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in a clinical environment, including bending, standing, stooping, kneeling, moving from room to room, and sitting; may be required to walk or stand for extended periods of time
- Believes their role impacts the success of the entire hospital
Responsibilities
