About The Position

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) – Emergency Up to $40.00/hour (DOE) + $5.50/hour Shift Differential (6:00 PM–6:00 AM) Up to $7,000 Sign-On Bonus Full-time opportunity in San Francisco, California Schedule: Full-time | Four 10-hour shifts Build your emergency veterinary nursing career at SAGE San Francisco. As an Emergency Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), you'll provide advanced nursing care for critically ill, injured, and unstable patients while working alongside emergency veterinarians, board-certified specialists, and an experienced Emergency & Critical Care team. Requirements

  • Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license required.
  • Minimum of three years of veterinary clinical experience; Emergency, Critical Care, ICU, or Specialty experience preferred.
  • Strong technical skills including venipuncture, catheter placement, medication administration, CRIs, and advanced patient monitoring.
  • Strong mathematical skills for calculating drug dosages, CRIs, client estimates, and invoices.
  • Excellent patient handling, communication, organization, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and work efficiently in a fast-paced emergency veterinary hospital.
  • Collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient and client care.

Nice To Haves

  • Emergency, Critical Care, ICU, or Specialty experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Triage emergency patients and prioritize care based on medical urgency.
  • Provide advanced nursing care and continuous monitoring for critically ill and hospitalized patients.
  • Administer medications, oxygen therapy, IV fluids, continuous rate infusions (CRIs), and prescribed treatments.
  • Place and maintain intravenous, central, and urinary catheters.
  • Perform bloodwork and support radiographs, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and other advanced diagnostics.
  • Assist veterinarians with CPR, thoracocentesis, pericardiocentesis, patient stabilization, and emergency procedures.
  • Monitor post-operative and hospitalized patients and quickly recognize changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records, treatment sheets, and patient documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with veterinarians, specialty teams, and pet owners.
  • Maintain emergency equipment and supplies and contribute to efficient patient flow.
