About The Position

Texas Health is seeking a PRN Registered Vascular Technician to join the Surgical Specialists Clinic. This role involves delivering patient care using the Registered Vascular Technician Process, performing diagnostic vascular studies, preparing and maintaining operations logs, calibrating equipment, and ordering supplies. The technician will explain procedures to patients, communicate with physicians and staff about patient conditions, and conduct studies in accordance with vascular laboratory protocols. This position also involves maintaining the vascular laboratory quality assurance database and reviewing test results with the interpreting physician.

Requirements

  • 1 Year Related experience in a Vascular Laboratory (required)
  • RVT - Registered Vascular Technologist Upon Hire (required) or RVS - Registered Vascular Sonographer Upon Hire (required)
  • Possess an excellent working knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary anatomy/pathology, the cardiac patient, and treatment of cardiac diseases
  • Have working knowledge of vascular arterial and venous anatomy for carotid and peripheral vasculature
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Have good computer skills
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree Related field (preferred)
  • Graduate of accredited ultrasound technology program (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Registered Vascular Technician Process.
  • Performs diagnostic carotid arterials and venous studies of upper and lower extremities and venous studies of patients with suspected peripheral vascular disease by following ICAVL guidelines.
  • Prepares and maintains operations logs and calibrates and maintains equipment, and order supplies when necessary.
  • Explains procedures to patient to obtain cooperation and reduce anxieties of patient.
  • Communicates with physicians, managers, and co-workers as appropriate about changes in patient’s clinical conditions while undergoing vascular procedure.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Conducts vascular laboratory studies in accordance with the vascular laboratory protocols.
  • Ensures that all vascular laboratory studies are scheduled in an appropriate manner to satisfy the clinical situation.
  • Maintains the vascular laboratory quality assurance database.
  • Reviews test results with interpreting physician.
