The Registered Ultrasound Technologist performs a variety of ultrasound procedures that require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative. This role involves performing diagnostic ultrasound exams as ordered by providers, using appropriate transducers to obtain quality diagnostic images, and ensuring proper disinfection of equipment. The technologist is responsible for accurate patient identification, ensuring the correct patient and body part are scanned, and correctly entering patient information into computer systems. They complete exams in the Radiology Software System and transmit them to the Radiologist. A key aspect of the role is maintaining a safe, clean, and hygienic work environment, adhering to all safety policies and procedures, and demonstrating proficiency with Joint Commission Certification (JCC) standards. The technologist utilizes the PACS work list, explains procedures to patients, answers questions, and maintains an exceptional level of customer service using AIDET principles. They also educate patients, providers, and staff on Ultrasound procedures, ensure correct CPT and ICD-10 codes for billing, and maintain professional licensure through ARDMS. Continuous learning of new software versions and contributing to team efforts are also expected.
