About The Position

This position is located at Raleigh Radiology, a freestanding outpatient imaging center in Cary, NC. The primary function of the Technologist - Sonographer is to provide outpatient ultrasound and radiology exams, and assist with Bone Mineral Density (BMD) as needed. The role requires the technologist to be registered as a radiographer and Sonographer and provide diagnostic outpatient procedures. Responsibilities include general sonography in an outpatient setting, covering abdominal, small parts, breast, obstetric, pediatric, MSK, interventional, biopsy, and vascular exams. While Sonography is the lead modality, rotation within Radiography and BMD is required as needed. This is a PRN (as needed) position with work hours Monday-Friday.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a Diagnostic Medical Sonography school.
  • Must have AHA BLS certification within 90 days of starting and keep it up.
  • Must be registered with ARDMS or ARRT before hiring.
  • ARDMS with RVT needed for vascular exams.
  • Also registered as Radiologic Technologists with ARRT.

Nice To Haves

  • Extra education in Radiography is a plus.
  • Preferably worked in a busy office or hospital before.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains standards of professional care and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Implements policies and procedures of Raleigh Radiology.
  • Performs procedures ordered in a safe, efficient, and professional manner to include all required views.
  • Assesses patient’s condition (physical and psychosocial); prioritizes needs, sets goals, and responds appropriately to meet those needs, which includes discharge teaching.
  • Reports and records pertinent observations and reactions to care rendered.
  • Assists with specific tests and procedures as needed.
  • Participates in the economic utilization of supplies.
  • Ensures that equipment is always maintained and available for use.
  • Assists co-workers and physicians in giving care to patients.
  • Establishes and maintains open communication.
  • Utilizes teaching opportunities with patients and other significant individuals.
  • Assists with / or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse occurrences in patients.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and well-maintained supply environment for patients and staff.
  • On regular, sustained basis, cooperates with other staff members both inside and outside the department in accomplishment of own job duties as well as assisting other in accomplishing theirs; serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization, always exhibiting traits of courtesy, caring, helpfulness and respect; conducts oneself in service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, cooperative, sensitive, respectful and kind when dealing with team members, visitors, public and all employees.
  • Performs other duties and accepts responsibility as assigned, which may include, but are not limited to, scheduling.
  • Gather and document patient history.
  • Engage with patients for a positive experience.
  • Perform assessments (vital signs, medical history, medications, allergies, etc.).
  • Continuously monitor patients during their visit.
  • Assess physical and psychological state, and respond to emergencies.
  • Start emergency procedures like CPR if needed.
  • Document changes in patient condition and understanding of procedures.
  • Provide accurate patient history to the Radiologist.
  • Relay reports and communicate with peers for quality care.
