About The Position

This position determines the health needs of incoming and returning students. The Registered School Nurse provides medical expertise on school, SPED, and safety teams, and manages medication administration and delivery of procedures required during the school day. This role involves training and delegating to staff for coverage as needed, coordinating hearing and vision screenings, and managing immunization records for all students. The position also focuses on developing and promoting good community relations among various community school clientele.

Requirements

Current unrestricted RN license from the State of Colorado.
Current Special Services Providers License- School Nurse through the Colorado Department of Education or must meet the requirements to obtain this license.
CPR certified.
CDHS Medication Registry upon hire.
BSN required.

Responsibilities

Provides for the delivery and documentation of health service to students under the guidelines of the Nurse Practice Act, and district policies and procedures.
Teams with health care providers, parents and school personnel to identify, develop and implement applicable Plans that mitigate health-related obstacles to learning.
Coordinates staff development (including but not limited to universal precautions, child abuse prevention, infectious disease guidelines).
Serves as a knowledgeable resource on health related topics for staff and parents.
Reports to ACDHS or law enforcement as required.
Attends school meetings (school, nurse and district.)
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
