About The Position

The Registered Respiratory Therapist - Respiratory Care position at Texas Health Plano involves providing high-quality respiratory care to a diverse patient population. Texas Health Plano is a 386-bed, full-service hospital serving North Texas, specializing in various medical services including emergency medicine, cardiology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and women's services. It is a Level II Trauma Facility with Level IV NICU and Level IV Maternal facility designations, and a DNV-certified Comprehensive Stroke Program. The hospital is also a four-time Magnet-designated facility with an AACN Beacon Gold adult intensive care unit and holds accreditations for Hip and Knee Replacement and is a Primary Heart Attack Center. An on-site childcare center is available for working parents.

Requirements

  • Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Care Program upon hire required
  • CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
  • RCP - Respiratory Care Practitioner upon hire required
  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist upon hire required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support ICU and Emergency Department only 90 Days required
  • NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program NRP required if working in the NICU 90 Days required
  • Good verbal communications, good interpersonal skills, and computer experience

Nice To Haves

  • NICU experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Review available medical records and obtain pertinent medical history from the patient or family.
  • Evaluates each patient using age and diagnosis-appropriate assessment tests and measurements.
  • Applies appropriate patient care interventions according to protocol guidelines and priority of care.
  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of age-appropriate patient assessment and individualizes care based on age-specific needs.
  • Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient's age and desire for treatment.
  • Performs treatment procedures that are within the scope of the professional license.
