The practitioner provides direct patient care and works collaboratively with other team members, the physician, and the patient/family to achieve optimal outcomes. This position acts as a liaison with other clinical departments. The individual provides clinical leadership throughout the system. The incumbent has access to confidential patient information and makes decisions independently and in collaboration with other team members, directors and physicians. The Registered Respiratory Therapist works under the indirect supervision of the Respiratory Care Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree with a concentration in Respiratory Therapy
  • Licensed by the Ohio Respiratory Care Board and Registered by the (NBRC) National Board for Respiratory Care
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support and NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program Completed
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation program completion required.

Nice To Haves

  • American Medical Association (AMA) approved associate degree program for Respiratory Therapy.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care, emergency and diagnostic respiratory care procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Carries out physician orders according to protocols, best practices, and respiratory care policies.
  • Accurate and timely completion of patient assessment involving the evaluation of cardiopulmonary function and treatment effectiveness, and patient/family education to contribute to the development and ongoing evaluation of a multidisciplinary plan of care.
  • Accurate and timely documentation/recording and communication of patient assessment findings, treatment effectiveness and outcomes.
  • Effective management and evaluation of critical/hazardous procedures in collaboration with other licensed health care professionals.
  • Accurately performs diagnostic procedures and cardiac monitoring with recognition of arrhythmias.
  • Accurately administers medications for the testing or treatment of cardiopulmonary impairment.
  • Assists with new employee orientation and annual competency skills evaluations.
  • Takes an active department leadership role in Quality Improvement Processes.
