About The Position

Piedmont Eastside is seeking a Full Time Registered Respiratory Therapist for night shifts. This role involves performing patient assessments and testing, providing patient education, and monitoring compliance with prescribed therapies related to pulmonary diseases and sleep disorders. The Respiratory Department at Piedmont Eastside is dedicated to providing quality, patient-centered care. The ideal candidate will be passionate about making a positive difference in every life they touch. The department utilizes Respiratory Driven Protocols for managing patients in ICU and acute care areas, with opportunities for RTs to intubate and insert A-lines after competency completion. They work across various units including adult cardiac care, medical/surgical ICU, progressive care unit, and acute care floors. The facility has a Women's Center with a Level 3 NICU, where RTs attend deliveries and care for neonates requiring respiratory support. The role also includes performing outpatient and inpatient Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) in the pulmonary function lab and managing inpatient EKGs. The team manages a variety of ventilators and respiratory support equipment, including GE Carescape R860, Servo I, Drager VN500, HFOV NICU vents, Phillips V60, Bubble CPAP, REMstar CPAP, Smart Vest, and Airvo. Bronchoscopy assistance with Glidescope disposable bronchs is also performed. There are opportunities for cross-training in EEGs, PFTs, and NICU, as well as participation in an Annual Pulmonary Conference, Leadership Development classes, and Skills Development Courses. The team comprises approximately 50 members, including a director, supervisor, NICU lead, and two adult leads. Staffing typically includes 7 people during the day and 6-7 at night, varying with census and acuity. The South Campus, with its ED, behavioral health unit, and acute care rehab, is also covered by one RT per shift. Candidates are welcome to shadow the department and facility.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy Sciences
  • Previous Working Experience in Neonatal Respiratory care, or successful completion of department specific orientation including skills validation of competencies for the duties and responsibilities of this level.
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care and licensed by the State Board of Medical Examiners
  • Current certifications in BCLS, ACLS, and NRP.
  • Must be actively practicing and maintaining all required competencies in both adult and neonatal areas.
