About The Position

Piedmont Eastside is seeking a Full Time Registered Respiratory Therapist for their Nights shift. A sign-on bonus is available. This role performs patient assessments and testing, provides patient education, and monitors compliance with prescribed therapies related to pulmonary diseases and sleep disorders. Piedmont is transforming healthcare and is looking for a dedicated individual to join their Respiratory Department. The department provides quality, patient-centered care and service to the community. The ideal candidate will share the common goal of making a positive difference in every life touched. The department utilizes Respiratory Driven Protocols to manage patients in ICU and acute care areas. After completing competency, RTs are able to intubate and insert A-lines. They work in adult cardiac care unit (ICU), medical/surgical ICU, progressive care unit (PCU), and acute care floors (women’s, medical, surgical, joint/spine, neuro). The facility has a Women’s Center with a level 3 NICU, where RTs attend deliveries and care for NICU babies receiving respiratory care. They also work in the pulmonary function lab (PFT) performing outpatient and inpatient PFTs, and perform inpatient EKGs on general care floors, occasionally outpatient. The team manages various ventilators and respiratory equipment including GE Carescape R860 vents, Servo I vents, Drager VN500 and HFOV NICU vents, Phillips V60, Bubble CPAP, REMstar CPAP, Smart Vest, and Airvo. Bronchoscopy assistance with Glidescope disposable bronchs is also performed. There are opportunities for cross-training on EEGs, PFTs, and NICU, as well as participation in the Annual Pulmonary Conference, Leadership Development classes, and Skills Development Courses. The team consists of approximately 50 members, including leadership. They typically staff 7 people during the day and 6-7 at night, varying with census and acuity. The team also covers a South Campus with an ED, behavioral health unit, and acute care rehab, with one RT per shift. Candidates are allowed to shadow the department and facility.

Requirements

Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy Sciences
Credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Licensed by the State of Georgia under the Composite State Board of Medical Examiners
Current certifications in BCLS, ACLS
Must be actively practicing and maintaining all required competencies
