About The Position

Piedmont Eastside is seeking a Full Time Registered Respiratory Therapist for their Nights shift. A sign-on bonus is available. This role involves performing patient assessments and testing, providing patient education, and monitoring compliance with prescribed therapies related to pulmonary diseases and sleep disorders. The department utilizes Respiratory Driven Protocols to manage patients in ICU and acute care areas. After completing competency, RTs are able to intubate and insert A-lines. The role covers various units including adult cardiac care unit (ICU), medical/surgical ICU, progressive care unit (PCU), and acute care floors (women’s, medical, surgical, joint/spine, neuro). The team also attends deliveries and cares for babies in the Level 3 NICU. Responsibilities extend to performing outpatient and inpatient Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) in the pulmonary function lab and performing inpatient EKGs. The department manages a variety of ventilators and respiratory equipment, and RTs assist with bronchoscopies. There are opportunities for cross-training in EEGs, PFTs, and NICU, as well as participation in the Annual Pulmonary Conference, Leadership Development classes, and Skills Development Courses. The team consists of approximately 50 members, including leadership. The department typically staffs 6-7 RTs per night shift, varying with census and acuity. They also cover the South Campus which includes an ED, behavioral health unit, and acute care rehab, with one RT per shift. Candidates are allowed to shadow the department and facility.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy Sciences
  • Credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Licensed by the State of Georgia under the Composite State Board of Medical Examiners
  • Current certifications in BCLS
  • Current certifications in ACLS
  • Must be actively practicing and maintaining all required competencies
