About The Position

The Pulmonary Function Respiratory Therapist role within the Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital offers a unique chance to become part of a dynamic, collaborative interdisciplinary team. This position adds value to patient care and significantly assists individuals with breathing issues. We currently offer an opportunity for a PRN Weekdays, Pulmonary Function Respiratory Therapist to support newborn and pediatric patients in our Level 1 trauma center in Cleveland. The therapist is learning and incorporating the mission statement and standards of behavior of his/her hospital or care facility. This therapist performs basic competencies within orientation and provides satisfactory respiratory therapy with minimum supervision.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory (Required) or Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory (Required)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (Required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)
  • Current RCP Ohio License granted by the Ohio Medical Board (Required)
  • AARC membership within 6 months of hire date (Required)
  • NRP Certified (Neonatal facilities) (Required within 6 Months)

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years Respiratory Therapy (Preferred)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (Preferred)
  • At least one year of recent PFT experience, 2-3 years is strongly preferred.
  • Previous work with pediatrics is also preferred.
  • Having a CPFT or RPFT is ideal but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical ventilation
  • Medicated aerosol delivery
  • Airway clearance therapy
  • Patient monitoring
  • Oxygen and humidity therapy
  • Special procedures (CPR, specialty gases, bronchoscopy, transport, etc.)
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
