About The Position

At Cleveland Clinic Children’s, our team brings expertise to each check-up, test and procedure to ensure every child receives the best possible care. As a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in the Pediatrics Unit, you will support a diverse patient population, with many of these young children managing various chronic respiratory disorders, critical illnesses and related symptoms. In this role, combining your skills with a compassionate attitude and outlook can make a difference in their lives and help promote a journey toward recovery or stability. All the while, you will gain extensive hands-on experience, enhance your skills and explore the numerous professional development resources offered by Cleveland Clinic. A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM - 7:30AM, with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) Board Licensure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Assocation (AHA)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) Certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) depending on department

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in critical care
  • Neonatal/pediatric experience when appropriate for site
  • Experience performing invasive procedures preferred when appropriate for site
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment, treatment, care and evaluation to patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
  • Direct respiratory caregivers for delivery of care.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Assess patients for the appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop, implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patient condition.
  • Perform advanced respiratory care modalities, evaluate respiratory practice, administer medications/treatments and perform blood gas puncture and analysis.
  • Educate patients and families about the illness and provide information about community support groups and other programs.
