Requirements

  • Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate.
  • Current Medication Administration Certificate.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in Geriatric Nursing, Healthcare and/or Rehabilitation as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN).
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit.
  • Successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-graduate studies in Geriatrics and Nursing Administration is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care that supports residents’ health, safety, and overall well-being.
  • Be a strong contributor to the culture of the home, where the focus is always on helping residents live fully, every day.
  • Prepare and administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and the College of Nurses of Ontario standards.
  • Follow up on all concerns and complaints forwarded by a Client, family or team members and informs/seeks assistance from the Registered Nurse or designate.
  • Promote the Client’s self-care and self-sufficiency, emphasize adaptation and abilities, promote wellness and provide preventative health education, thus by treating the whole person.
  • Complete assessments, RAPS, and individualized care plans accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Support the unregulated care workers through guidance, direction, training and education.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
