About The Position

Humber River Health is seeking a compassionate Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join their 8 East, Respirology Unit. This role involves delivering high-quality, safe care to chronically ventilated and acutely ill patients with respiratory health problems. Humber River Health is a fully digital hospital, committed to innovation in healthcare, serving a diverse community in North West Toronto. Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized Registered Practical Nursing two year diploma program.
  • Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to set priorities.
  • Demonstrate adherence to the hospital’s code of conduct.
  • Demonstrate competency in a variety of skills including (but not limited to), intramuscular injections, intravenous therapy initiation and discontinuation, Blood Transfusion, Wound Care Dressing, Medication Administration, etc.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing care to patients with ventilators, tracheostomy, central lines, complex wounds and feeding tubes is preferred.
  • Experience with patient health teaching.
  • Minimum 1 year acute medical/surgical experience, preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and Meditech experience is an asset.
  • An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • RPN responsibilities set out by the department.
  • Provide care for chronically ventilated and acutely ill patients with respiratory health problems in collaborating with the Registered Respiratory Therapists where necessary.
