Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of safe medication administration
  • Ability to prepare and administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and the College of Nurses of Ontario standards
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to following up on all concerns and complaints forwarded by a Client, family or team members and informs/seeks assistance from the Registered Nurse or designate
  • Proven ability to complete assessments, RAPS, and individualized care plans accurately and within required timeframes
  • Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate
  • Current Medication Administration Certificate
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in Geriatric Nursing, Healthcare and/or Rehabilitation as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
  • Successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check

  • Post-graduate studies in Geriatrics and Nursing Administration

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the culture of the home, where the focus is always on helping residents live fully, every day
  • Prepare and administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and the College of Nurses of Ontario standards
  • Following up on all concerns and complaints forwarded by a Client, family or team members and informs/seeks assistance from the Registered Nurse or designate
  • Promote the Client’s self-care and self-sufficiency, emphasize adaptation and abilities, promote wellness and provide preventative health education, thus by treating the whole person
  • Complete assessments, RAPS, and individualized care plans accurately and within required timeframes
  • Support the unregulated care workers through guidance, direction, training and education
  • Perform other duties as assigned
