If these statements resonate with you, we welcome you to consider applying to a casual Registered Practical Nurse position at Huron Hospice Bender House. Huron Hospice Bender House is a small, residential hospice on 12 acres of land, just outside Clinton, ON. Our outside grounds are beautiful, but it is the inside of the house that makes it special. Bender House is an intimate space where families gather to create as many memories as possible, as their loved ones come to their end of their lives. Our team of skilled RNs and RPNs, along with our compassionate volunteers and committed Leadership group, ensure that all feel well cared for from the time they enter though the doors to the time they leave. The successful candidate for this position will have excellent communication skills, be able to quickly establish meaningful relationships, be skilled in the assessment and management of palliative symptoms and ensure that all domains of person-centered care are addressed. The candidate will demonstrate an ability to work with a variety of people and in a variety of clinical situations. They will be comfortable working independently and as well as being part of a team and will be able to adapt to the varied and changing needs of the residents in our care. The successful candidate will be committed to ongoing learning and growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Minimum of one year registered practical nursing experience, in the past 5 years
  • Current BCLS certification
  • Computer literacy (Outlook, Microsoft Word)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working at Huron Hospice
  • Previous experience working with a palliative care team and/or hospice environment in the past 5 years
  • Previous experience working with palliative clients in long term care and/or other settings in the past 5 years
  • Fundamentals of Palliative Care (must be willing to complete within 6 months of employment with Huron Hospice)
  • Comprehensive Advanced Palliative Care Education (CAPCE) (must be willing to obtain within 18 months of employment with Huron Hospice)
  • Learning Essentials Approaches to Palliative Care (LEAP) course(s)
  • Demonstration of continuous professional development (courses, conferences etc)
  • Previous committee involvement
  • Experience with Info Anywhere (our client management system)
