The Complex Care and Recovery Program is currently seeking a part-time, temporary Registered Practical Nurse to work in the Forensic General Unit C at the Queen Street Site. As a member of the interprofessional team, you will provide client-centered, recovery oriented, psychiatric and general nursing care, practice in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario standards of practice, CAMH policies and the CAMH Practice Model of Care, and ensure the security and safety of the client care environment. Working within a primary nursing model, you will be expected to perform assessments, develop, implement and evaluate interprofessional plans of client care for clients from diverse backgrounds who may be suffering from mental health and addiction problems and who are detained under the Criminal Code or under the jurisdiction of the Ontario Review Board (ORB). You will liaise with other services in the Complex Mental Illness Program and community agencies to coordinate care for clients. The Registered Practical Nurses will be responsible for contributing to program development, and providing education, support and supervision to students. You will participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of risk management plans and contribute to the assessment of client’s fitness for trial. You will ensure compliance with the ORB disposition or court orders. You will be expected to participate in the preparation of ORB and Court reports. This position involves shift rotation (days and nights) and weekend work and is located at the Queen Street Site.
