Requirements

  • Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province
  • Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge
  • Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required
  • Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred
  • Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset
  • Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role
  • Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills

Responsibilities

  • Providing planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the provincial standards of care.
  • Building trusted relationships with our residents, families and teams with continuous ongoing and effective communication.
  • Implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of the care plans and making changes as required.
  • Completing and ensuring resident’s clinical care assessments, care plans and documentation are accurate, up to date and communicating changes as required.
  • Teaching, delegating and directing unregulated care providers, providing them with coaching & mentorship.
