About The Position

Humber River Health is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to join their Oncology Medicine Unit. Humber River Health is North America's first fully digital hospital, committed to changing healthcare through technology and clinical expertise. They serve a community of 850,000 residents in North West Toronto and are affiliated with the University of Toronto and Queen’s University. The Oncology team provides comprehensive support to patients throughout their cancer journey, from consultation to palliative care. This role is crucial in delivering high-quality patient care within a dynamic and innovative healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized Registered Practical Nursing two year diploma program.
  • Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to set priorities.
  • Experience with patient health teaching.
  • Demonstrated adherence to the hospital’s code of conduct.
  • Reliable, consistent attendance is a requirement.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Basic computer skills and Meditech experience is an asset.
  • An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset.

Nice To Haves

  • Current DeSouza Oncology Foundations, preferred
  • Current oncology experience, preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year acute medical/surgical experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Registered Practical Nursing duties as outlined by the College of Ontario Nurses.
  • Intramuscular injections, intravenous therapy initiation and discontinuation, Blood Transfusion, Wound Care Dressing, Medication Administration, Pain Management, etc.
