About The Position

Coleman Care Centre has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Practical Nurse to join their team. This is a temporary part-time position with a shift from 14:15 PM to 22:15 PM, working 37.5 hours bi-weekly, and includes the first weekend to work. The hiring rate for this role is $32.81 per collective agreement/employee association agreement. As a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) joining our Village, you will maintain current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, have existing Heart Save Level of CPR, and demonstrate an ability to prioritize tasks effectively, manage stress, and deliver safe medication administration. You will follow plans of care, identify and report changes in resident well-being, and have an understanding of relevant policies, procedures, legislation, and regulations applicable to the Long-Term Care sector. You will support our resident-centered social culture, work as a key member of the multidisciplinary team, collaborate with the Neighbourhood Physician, and have proficient communication and computer skills. You will also understand the physical, mental, and emotional demands of the RPN role and demonstrate alignment with the organization's vision, mission, and values.

Requirements

• Maintain current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Have existing Heart Save Level of CPR.
• Demonstrate an ability to prioritize tasks effectively, properly plan for, and allocate the right amount of time and effort to complete tasks. Remains calm and manages stress appropriately.
• Deliver safe administration of medication and treatments with a focus on accuracy, quality and meeting our residents’ quality of life requests.
• Follow plans of care (or service plans) in accordance with the standards of the College of Nurses and able to identify and report any changes in the resident’s well-being to the Charge Nurse or Village leadership team.
• Have an understanding of relevant policies, procedures, legislation, and regulations applicable to the Long-Term Care sector, including the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OSHA) of Ontario.
• Support and embrace our resident-centered social culture and be proud to deliver the highest quality of personal care to our residents.
• Work as a key member of our Village and Neighbourhood multidisciplinary team to understand residents’ individual needs, and advocate for residents to actively participate in decisions about their care, support new resident move-ins, facilitate transfers to hospital, or any changes in resident medical needs.
• Collaborate with the Neighbourhood Physician during weekly rounds and update care plans and directions accordingly.
• Have proficient communication and computer skills in order to update care plans in the current system.
• Understand the physical, mental, and emotional demands of the RPN role.

• Experience working with people living with Dementia.
• Knowledge of the palliative assessments scale.
• Comfortable supporting residents and their families during end-of-life care.
• Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, legislation, regulations and best practices applicable to the retirement and long-term care sector (e.g. RAI processes and CIHI, supplies, equipment ordering, etc.)
