About The Position

The Oncology Unit (C3) is an active inpatient oncology facility providing a continuum of care for adults with solid tumor malignancies. C3 is committed to investing in our nurses’ professional growth and development with the goal of developing a community of specialized oncology nurses who will seamlessly provide care to our patients along the cancer continuum. Nurses will be offered a standardized orientation to enhance building a foundation of oncology knowledge as well as create confidence to care for patients with cancer. As a member of the healthcare team, the Registered Practical Nurse assesses and evaluates patient care and provides nursing care according to the Standards of Practice for Registered Practical Nurses.

Requirements

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to work safely with biohazardous byproducts

Nice To Haves

• Recent (within the last 2 years) experience in the care of oncology patients and patients with digestive diseases

Responsibilities

• Assesses and evaluates patient care
• Provides nursing care according to the Standards of Practice for Registered Practical Nurses
• Functions in an environment which is fast-paced, collaborating with the RN
• Communicates effectively with patients, families and other members of the healthcare team
• Sets priorities and organizes work in response to patient needs
• Supports patients and families of patients who are terminally ill through death and dying
