This position is responsible for performing all aspects of sleep disorders testing, following established policies and procedures. The technician will perform a variety of standard protocols for sleep disorders testing, including setting up and monitoring the patient over a ten to twelve hour period. This role involves operating and troubleshooting sleep lab equipment, and the technician must be able to resolve most equipment problems independently as they are alone during the testing period. The position requires administering therapies to patients according to physician orders, scoring and evaluating polysomnograms, and providing education and inservices for outreach accounts and interested groups or individuals. The technician will also monitor and assist in maintaining sleep lab equipment and create and maintain a positive and calm environment within the department.
