About The Position

The Registered Pharmacy Technician/Trainee plays a critical role in supporting licensed pharmacists & certified technicians. The role involves learning and applying pharmaceutical knowledge, developing technical skills, and gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced retail and LTC pharmacy environment. The technician/trainee will contribute to patient care by managing inventory, processing prescriptions, and providing excellent customer service. Ultimately, this position serves as a foundation for a career in pharmacy, combining practical training with professional development to ensure high-quality pharmaceutical services. On-the-job training provided and facilitating of pharmacy technician trainee license.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Registration or eligibility to register as a Pharmacy Technician in Massachusetts.
  • Basic understanding of pharmaceutical terminology and medication safety principles.
  • Ability to pass a drug screening, including marijuana as required by the employer.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) communication skills are used daily to interact effectively with patients providing clear and compassionate assistance and delivery confirmations.
  • Technical skills, including familiarity with computer, cash register, support efficient workflow and accurate record-keeping of sales.
  • Continuous learning and adaptability are important as the role involves ongoing training and staying current with pharmaceutical regulations and best practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.
  • Previous experience working in a pharmacy, healthcare setting or retail setting.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy management software and electronic health records.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists and certified technicians as directed.
  • Communicates directly with patients by phone in English and Spanish to confirm deliveries.
  • Manage inventory by ordering OTC, receiving, and stocking pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Provide courteous and knowledgeable assistance to patients.
  • Participate in training programs and complete required annual training to advance professional knowledge and skills.
  • Ensure the pharmacy environment is clean, organized, and compliant with safety and health regulations.
