About The Position

The OT - Occupational Therapist provides direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards. This role requires participation in community health matters/projects, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e-mail, and effective liaison with patients, families, and support departments to plan for patient needs. The therapist must demonstrate good body mechanics, make independent decisions, and be knowledgeable of post-acute care facility operations, laws, and regulations. They are responsible for implementing and interpreting departmental programs, goals, and policies, and maintaining professional working relationships. Upholding company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures, and adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct are essential. The role also involves following occupational treatment plans, establishing and modifying patient goals, overseeing care provided by assistants and students, charting appropriately, utilizing therapy software accurately, exhibiting excellent customer service, and assisting in patient evacuation. The position requires concentration, reasoning, good judgment, and effective communication within an interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • NBCOT certified upon hire.
  • Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy (BSOT or MSOT).
  • Currently registered/licensed in applicable State.
  • Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
  • CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation.
  • CPR certification must remain current during employment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e mail.
  • Must demonstrate good body mechanics at all times.
  • Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility.
  • Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
  • Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment.
  • Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team.
  • Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year experience preferred.
  • NBCOT renewal is optional going forward.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral.
  • Follow occupational treatment plans for patients (i.e., activities of daily living).
  • Establish, assess, and modify realistic, measurable, timely, and functional goals.
  • Oversee and evaluate care given by OTAs, Rehab Aides, and students.
  • Chart appropriately and timely.
  • Utilize therapy software appropriately and accurately.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients.
  • Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate.
  • Liaisons with patients, families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for patient needs.
  • Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department.
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures.
  • Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training.
